When people think of mentoring programs, they think of Big Brothers Big Sisters. For more than 100 years our mentoring programs have provided children with a positive role model and friend that have helped improve their lives. Our experienced approach to recruiting, screening, matching and supporting our mentoring relationships has become an industry model; and has resulted in thousands of lasting relationships, and helped change the lives of young people across the country.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Ohio operates several distinct mentoring programs.
The programs are available at no cost to the children and their families.
With our traditional “match” program, caring adult volunteers, age 18 and older, are matched with children, age 6 to 15, in one-to-one relationships. We also operate a school based mentoring program that is designed to help children in grades 3 through 8 grade develop positive attitudes toward school, build self-esteem and have fun while improving their natural abilities and social skills. These programs operate throughout a three-county coverage area. The goal of BBBSNEO is to provide a mentor to every child who needs and wants one.
