Our Community program, or traditional match program as it is often called, is what we are best known for. It provides children with an adult volunteer mentor that has been specially matched to the child.
The Community program accepts children between the ages of six and 15. Children, or LITTLES, involved in this program are recommended by a parent or guardian. The children and their family are interviewed and screened by our trained staff to determine the child’s needs.
Any adult, age 18 or older, can volunteer to become a BIG Brother or BIG Sister. They, too, are interviewed, screened and their backgrounds thoroughly checked.
Our staff takes the time to get to get to know each child and volunteer determining their likes and dislikes. Once all background information has been gathered, our staff creates the most compatible match for both the child and adult volunteer.
A mentoring relationship benefits both the child and the adult volunteer and can be a wonderfully rewarding experience for both.
